Tonneau covers what are you using on yours?
My new to me 2006 Dakota came with a Tonneau cover of unknown vintage.
It's a soft vinyl type, that has velcro edges. I was just wondering how to properly care for one of these. What products do you use to clean and protect it? |
Doing some research it appears I have a Truxedo Lo-Pro QT.
Quote from manual found online: " Vinyl cover can be hand washed with mild soap and water or cleaned in a car wash. Thoroughly rinse cover to remove any soap residue. Cover can be treated with any vinyl protectant made for tonneau covers. Never use silicon, petroleum, or citrus based products on your tonneau cover" Comments? |
I have a Tuxedo Truxport, it's a soft roll up cover. I have a UV protectant spray, but pretty much don't use it, maybe twice a year. Simply wash it when washing the truck. Its been on for a few years and looks great.

I had that same one when i had my Dakota. It was on for about 8 months before i sold the truck, so never had a chance to do much maintenance other then going through car washes. I absolutely loved it compared to not having a tonneau cover. And the fact that you basically have the whole box when you roll it up was perfect. I was planning on doing a UV protective spray when the transmission issue started and since i didn't keep the truck i never got a chance to do it.

I am hoping I can fit My ATV back there when I don't want to use the trailer. Probably have to leave the tailgate down and tie it back so the winch doesn't hit the glass. Or maybe be radical and back it on :D 6.5ft box.
