Wheel bearings?
I have an 05 dakota 6cyl 2 wd.
why are the wheel bearings so expensive? I notice they all come as a hub assembly. Can I just by 2 for 60 bucks from ebay? |
Only if you like replacing them.....
This is one of those parts where you spend the money to buy a good one, so you don't have to change them every year...... It's a unit bearing, with probably a built-in wheel speed sensor. So, yeah, not cheap...... |
The ones I use come from Ebay are Am Autoparts 10 yr warranty or TRQ with a lifetime warranty. If you buy them by the pair they can be had for as little as $39 each shipped. They work fine and I've never had issues with them.No need to pay exorbitant amounts of money for a Timken,Raybestos,Napa etc from a local supplier. They are price gouging.ymmv

I have gotten some of the 'less expensive' brands with lifetime warranty before, all that did was reduce the cost of doing the job again a year or two later........ My local parts store will match prices with Rock Auto..... Works out rather well for me.

My first set I got from Advance, lasted 8 years. Went with A&M off of ebay last year.
Since the factory set only made it 4 years, I'm not too worried. |
Hope this helps.....

I bought the Napa ones with the good Timken bearings, they ran me 140 each, oem lasted 10 years and with napa at anytime a part fails they will replace at no cost.
