Default 2012 durango rt power question

Should i be able to chirp the tires/ do a burnout with the traction control off? You think you should be able to with the hemi? just trying to figure out if there is something wrong or if it is normal. Thanks

Unfortunately the low stall speed of the torque converter , the 3.46:1 final drive ratio, the rate at which the computer lets the throttle open + the rest of the torque management system that’s not disabled by simply turning off the T/C really hurts the straight line performance. I can’t wait ‘till November ’12 (supposedly when coding will be released and some form of tuner will be available).

Unless you heard this from someone of authority at Dodge I wouldn't hold my breath for the tuning to be opened up, especially on the Durangos.

I haven't tried it. 360 HP doesn't go too far with a 5000 lb rig :-) I'm going to use it to tow a race car.

If I were going to buy a SUV to be fast I would have gotten a Trailblazer SS or Jeep Cherokee SRT8. Both of those can be heavily modified and tuning is available (at least on the older Cherokees)

Particularly if you have AWD, this will be a challenge in factory form. There are several things to make it peppier; Cold-air intake, open up exhaust more, aftermarket throttle body, etc. If you are more adventurous a cam and headers would help. In the end you are limited by the computer. I don't know of any turbo kit - may be waiting for ability to tune. Lastly, some have benefited by recalibrating the throttle position sensor. There is a sequence for doing that, or could disconnect the battery briefly and let it relearn.
