Question about TSB's

Every TSB I have read, towards the bottom it says "Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty" I have the Max care lifetime warranty with a $100.00 deductible. I am currently at 43K miles, so out of the original bumper to bumper, but still under the powertrain and my extended. My question is this, if there is a TSB for the radio, or really anything not covered under the factory powertrain warranty, do I have to pay my $100.00 deductible for the TSB to be performed? Maybe Dodge Cares can chime...TIA.

Usually, yes, you pay for the repair for TSBs (in this case, $100 deductible). TSBs are recommended procedures on how to repair an issue. They do not indicate that you have that issue, only how to repair or diagnose it you do. In other words, just because there is a TSB, doesn't mean your vehicle has that problem.

Like any other repair or issue, if you have one, you pay for it. The TSB just helps in getting it fixed.

Don't pay to have firmware updated on your radio when you can download the ISO, burn a disc, and update it yourself using the directions in the TSB.

Thanks for the input, bbtkd do you have a link to get the files? I remember seeing it somewhere once but I did not save the link. Thanks again.

Crap - went to find the bookmark I had, and could not find the site. A guy named Sox posts in the jeep forums and he has a site with a wealth of information including directions and downloads. If I run across it I will post it. From memory you need to have the right update ISO file for your model of radio, then you cut an ISO DVD and insert it in the radio. Make sure no USB devices are plugged in. ISO update can theoretically be done via USB stick, but greater chance of bricking your radio. There are also updates for gracenotes, the software and data that many radio manufacturers buy to identify albums/tracks. Note that if you screw something up, or the DVD gets an error at the wrong place then you brick the radio. That said, I've done this twice with no issues.
