Default Tow/Haul Install Possible

Hey guys long story short I thought I had the towing package installed but only have the hitch and full sized spare. I want to know if it is possible to install the Tow/Haul Mode and Button on my 2011 D Heat? And mainly if it is a DIY or a dealer thing? Thanks for all the input!

I think tow haul is transmission specific. Maybe the trans you have, (merc 5 speed) doesnt have that option. V8 only on 11-13?

At a minimum this is not a DIY type thing. The tow/haul package includes the self-leveling suspension, heavy duty transmission cooling, all the wiring pins with connections to the brakes, etc., and specific anti-sway features.

So if your intention is to tow a very small trailer you might get away with this by just rigging the wiring from your tail lights. But if you plan to tow 7000 lbs, I think you need the dealer and some $$.

I am not talking about the self leveling suspension and transmission cooler and things of that nature. Just the button that tells the transmission to change the shift points when hauling a load. The V6 can only haul 4500lbs or so and that is more than what I need but being on the back roads I would rather have the tow/haul mode than manually shifting.

I highly doubt that this is something a dealer can install after the fact. This has to do with the transmission itself and that's something that has to be done at the factory. The tow/haul button is essentially a button that turns off the overdrive function of the transmission and initiates engine braking when needed.

Like zaktrafton said, if you have the V6, it's likely not on there because that wasn't needed on the V6 versions. It was never offered on the V6 versions to my knowledge. Here's a relevant discussion by some jeep guys:
