Tire recommendation
 

I've just turned over the 60,000 Km (37,500 mile) mark. The original Goodyear Futura's continue to show reasonable tread left, but I keep picking up debris causing holes, and resulting patches. I've never had that problem before, and after the 5th patch, I think it is time to look at replacing the tires. My initial thoughts are to use Michelin, but a neighbour is strongly recommending Toyo, which are about a third cheaper, and he says offer a better ride on his vehicle.
I'd welcome any recommendations. They are standard size 265/50/20, and I'm looking to maitain the nice ride the Citadel no provides.

I replaced Michelin's with Toyo's (225x75x15) on a Buick Roadmaster station wagon, which the Durango replaced, and they were great tires - smooth ride, great handling, long lasting, touring tires. My daughter has a 2nd set of Toyo's on her Honda Civic and she's been very happy with them.

I've been running Michelins for more than 40 years on both domestic and foreign models and have NEVER had a problem with them. Mileage has always exceeded the manufacturers claims, with one set on a 1970 Volvo 242 lasting more than 80K miles.
My '12 Crew came with OEM 18-inch Michelins and at 38,000 miles they still had between 4-5/16s of an inch wear remaining. (Experts suggest new tires at 3/16s) I bought new 20-inch rims and put on the 225/50/20 Michelin Latitudes.
I did not notice any difference in the ride going from the OEM 225/60/18 to the 225/50/20.
Expensive? Yes, but you get what you pay for -- tread wear, comfort, no road noise, and strength.

Yokahama Parada Spec X always the #1 /#2 in reviews and i had them in 265/50/20 and 305/40/22 both sets great tires and very reasonable $$ $165 range

The factory michelins on our durango are loud on pavement and scary in snow. Terrible design, bad in rain with 15k miles on them. Slide all over and hydroplane at 60 mph.

It doesn't help the OP when guys post that they "like Michelins" or "Toyos rule". Each manufacturer makes a large number of tire designs, some better than others within the same manufacturer's line. Please give the model name you like or dislike - not just the brand.....

Tire Rack has a large database of tire reviews for many different models, I suggest that the OP look there for tires in his size. Not definitive, but more helpful than "Goodyears suck".

Factory equipped michelin lattitude tour 265/60-18

love my Parada Spec X

Last fall, at 38000 miles, I replaced my OEM Michelin Lattitudes with Continental's Crosstract LX20. I have 18 inch rims. The Michelins performance in winter was not good and wear was less than expected. I have 56,000 miles on the vehicle now and decent tread life remaining on these Continentals. Performance in winter and rain is good. I'd buy these again. Researched tires on Tirerack, but bought these continentals at a ford dealer on a buy 3 get the 4th for a buck. Cheaper than tirerack.

One of the problems is that manufacturers change their model names, sometimes every year, so its difficult to get the same model tire being named. For example, the Toyo tires I mentioned for the station wagon we had were the Spectrum model; well, that's no longer available - they now offer a model called Versado.

As mentioned, using sources like TireRack and Consumer Reports can help choose the tire that would fit one's need and/or desire.
