Default Moaning sounds?

A few weeks ago my '17 Citadel (stock 3.6L) starting moaning when I turn off the ignition. It happens randomly and I have not been able to reproduce the sound regardless of what I try.
Here's the problem: When I turn off the car there is a moaning sound which is like a gear/turbo (?) slowing down or perhaps air escaping from a pneumatic device. Initially I suspected an actuator on the HVAC system but on subsequent events the sound appeared to come from under the car. Its happened 6-8 times in the past 3 months.
The noise occurs ONLY after I switch things off, regardless of whether I backed into a parking spot or drove in nose first. It has happened on hills and flat terrain. It happens after long jaunts and short hops. Its happened in day and night. Etc. etc.
Any suggestions? The truck is nearing its 36K/3year anniversary and I'd like to solve the problem before then.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Years ago, I heard of, but did not see personally, a similar problem. I seem to think it had something to do with the vapor recovery system at the charcoal canister. I'm not saying that's it, but it seems familiar.

We certainly understand why this would be concerning, Orin500XL. do you remember if the a/c was on when you parked in these instances? i have had cases where the a/c system was engaged when the car is shut off and the high/low pressures need to equalize once the compressor shuts off, that can definitely make a little noise. Not a problem, but could be the source of your noise.

Rad caps exchanging fluid with the overflow bottle can make a noise too.

You might be running the car to hard and it's tired. Sorry, long day and I'm getting silly.

If your Durango is still under warranty I would recommend taking it to the dealer and explaining the issue to them. If they find the issue, it will most likely be covered under the warranty; if they cannot duplicate the issue, then at least you have the problem documented so that when it gets worse you most likely will still be able to have it fixed under warranty.

Thanks for all the input, guys and gals. And, yes, the air conditioning was running each time it happened. The noise lasts for only about 3-4 seconds and my immediate thought was it something to do with the vacuum system.
I had '12 Crew that lost one of the vacuum actuators on the AC doors under the dash. That car was out of warranty so it cost me about $500 to fix. Ouch.
I hesitate to take it back to the dealer because in all probability they wont be able to duplicate it and then . . . If the dealer ran a vacuum system test I wonder what the chances of this noise popping up under those conditions? I expect they'll change for the test but if the noise pops up I'm sure the testing would be cheaper than tearing the whole dash out to fix something.
Vacuum system test cost?
Does that sound like a good place to start?
Thanks in advance for your help on this. And thanks to Dodge Cares for their opinion also.

I only ask because I recently removed my mechanical clutch fan and installed a electric fan and now I here the sound of the fan slowing to a stop when I cut off my truck.
