Long-term owners: squeaks and rattles?
Hey all, looking seriously at a new Durango to replace my 04 Pilot. I've never owned a Dodge before. For those of you who have had your 3rd gen Durangos for awhile, how are they regarding developing squeaks and rattles over time? Funky noises are one of my biggest pet peeves in an automobile, so I want to be sure I'm not buying a future rattletrap if I can avoid it.

Squeaks and Rattles Category......
Our 2012 Dodge Durango SXT has 60,000 + miles. The only squeak ours has is the passenger seat. If somebody is in the seat and the vehicle changes direction (making a left or right turn) the seat will squeak. I tightened the screws on the side hinges and four torx screws on a bar behind the seat cushion and the squeak went away. (only to re appear a year later).

Out of the 15 vehicles I've had, this is my first (true) Dodge. I've only had this 2011 with 81k miles on the odometer Durango for about a month. Squeaks and rattles are a pet peeve of mine as well. I must say, I'm very impressed with how quiet the interior is on my Durango. The only rattles I experience are due to things I put in door pockets or in the lower tray in the cargo area. Even the sunglass holder is lined with foam to keep the sunglasses from rattling.
Oh, and the previous owner of my Durango lived on a gravel road so it probably had accelerated life testing for rattles. Every time I wash my truck more gravel sludge comes out.

I've got numerous rattles in my 2012 RT with only 42000kms. Too many to cover off but here are the major ones. Had the shock thump/chuckle shorlty after the time of purchase. I have a rattle in the center console that recently showed up. The drivers seat if positioned right will squeak. Both pillars next to the front drivers and passenger seatbelts have a light rubbing sound(plastic on plastic) when going over joints in the road(Not too loud but right next to the ear so noticable). The glove box handle rattles when MDS kicks in and out. There are a few other rubbing sounds in the back but I have not been able to locate them as I never sit in the rear. Last summer I went south for a road trip and the roads were night and day to the ones in Alberta, Canada. Some of these sounds are road joint/bump related and therefore were not as noticable when I travelled through the States where the roads did not seem as bad. I would not recommend this vehicle if you live in the North and if you are noise sensative, as there are some significant rattles sounds that can be down right annoying. I never experienced this many rattles in my Ford Flex or Kia Sportage.
