Replace fog light reflectors 2012
If your previous owner or yourself (p.o. in my case) decides to put halogen bulbs in the fog light housing. This is how you replace the housing after it melts. : )
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...320fa5ff42.jpg I could not find this info and it turned out to be pretty simple. Order yourself part number 05182024AA-001. ($35 on eBay with bulb) Under the valance you'll find the fog light housing held in by one 7mm hex head. Unbolt it. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...d2f57fc6a6.jpg Rotate the housing to the left which will free it from the valance. Snip the wire tie holding the bulb connector to the housing and squeeze it past the shield. Unbolt the two t20 torx screws securing the reflector to the housing and press in the pressure pins holding it in the housing. You will need to reuse the torx screws. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...b6a763ce96.jpg Reverse to install. Easy as can be. Thanks! Hope it helps. Don't use halogen bulbs! : / |
Nice write up! Now I'm curious if the housing out of a 2005-2008 lx (Magnum, Charger, 300) would fit in place of the ones for the Durango. If so, you could then use a halogen bulb or even get an HID kit that wouldn't melt the housing.

Eh, well never mind. The diameters are different.

The part looks nearly identical though. How far off is it?

Oh the way the grey housing attaches to the black holder is exact. The LX housings are smaller by at least a half inch I would say. After I read your post, I went and pulled a housing out of my Durango just to check and just by looking at it it's off.
I can check with one of my friends who has an 08 magnum just to verify though. |
LX foglights are 3.75 inches. Durango, 4 inches. So the buckets that hold the fog lights in place aren't gonna work. The Durango buckets are too big... Bummer.
