Remote start:heated seats/wheel

I have the preset on the radio screen set to turn comfort pkg on with start. Seats and wheel turn on. My issue is when i use factory remote start and it is under 30 degrees the seats and wheel do not operate. Once i get in the truck and hit the start button they come on.

whats the deal? Has to be a way for them to work when using remote start. What am i missing?

please help.

Some accessories are designed to only power up when the "key" is detected and in the "run" position. Apparently the seats and wheel heat were designed to be such a type of accessory. I assume the reason for that is that they draw a lot of power and in most cases they heat up QUITE quickly. Having those very hot elements drawing power while nobody is sitting in the seat and/or holding the wheel would be wasting amps and adding unnecessary wear to the heating elements. Once you hop in and turn them on, they take what...30 seconds to get toasty if that? On the other hand the actual engine itself (and therefore the primary heat) takes several minutes to come up to temp, so it makes sense to have the defroster/heater powered but not much sense to have the ancillary heaters running when you aren't even there.

That's my theory.

Not to mention it is a potential safety hazard.... those elements get HOT, and if you aren't sitting there to transfer most of the heat away..... it'll build up in the seat. A seat fire would be unpleasant.

Hm, ok well I don't know then. My wife has a 2016 Renegade with seat and steering wheel heat and it goes from zero to hot in about 30 seconds.

On my '12 the heated driver's seat comes on with remote start. I think the steering wheel does too, but I don't clearly remember.
