Questions regarding DD Issues?

Just wanted to see if others have experienced my most recent issues with my 2015 R/T:

- I've been hearing noises from the front engine compartment. I took it in and was told it was the water pump. I asked it if was the bearing, and they said it was internal - maybe the impeller. Still waiting on the part to be delivered to Dodge Dealer - though that was 4 weeks ago. Called the dealer and they said they were surprised I was on a long list to receive one for replacement. Anyone else experience issues with Water Pump. I have 35K on vehicle so I can't believe it's due to wear/tear.

- I also noticed a while back something strange with my heated mirrors. The driver side, while heating, changes a blueish color inside the heated ring and seems to be normal outside the ring. After a while driving, or maybe when it shuts off, the blueish tint goes away but I can still see the heated ring perimeter. When I look at the passenger side mirror (at the same time the driver side has blueish tint, it seems fine. Seems clear across mirror and I do not see the heated ring. Attached are pics. Does anyone else notice this phenomenon? Is this normal?

I don't have any input on the water pump, but the side mirror is not using a "heated ring." The heating element is a back and forth pattern of a resistive element (similar to a heated seat or a rear window defroster) behind the mirror. What you are seeing is the auto-dimming of the mirror which is to keep from blinding the driver when headlights from the rear are present. The auto-dimming feature is only on the driver's side mirror which is why the passenger side appears normal. I'm not sure what could be causing the dimming feature to activate unless there is glare from snow or other bright objects at the time you've observed this, so it may be completely normal depending on the surroundings.

I don't have a Hemi, but from what I understand the Hemi's have water pump issues and there's a nationwide backorder of replacements. Since yours hasn't actually failed yet, I'm sure your name is at the bottom of the dealer's pile. But noise like you described is a key symptom and these water pumps are failing nationwide at an alarming rate. Yours is probably on it's way out.

Why don't you try calling around to area Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealers to see if they have any pumps in stock? From what I hear, supply is starting to show up randomly. If the dealer where your Jeep is doesn't have one and they don't care enough to check around for you, do some calling around yourself. Chances are you might find a dealer within a reasonable distance that has a couple pumps in stock.

You should be completely covered under warranty for the water pump (part # 5038668AD), gasket (53013736AA), the coolant (68048953AB) and of course all associated labor. Make sure the proper coolant is installed as they changed it sometime around 2013 and most dealers have both on hand and sometimes don't know better or are careless.

On my 2011, I lost my water pump at 88k miles right after (<72 hours) I completed a 2000 mile round-trip in 48 hours. I was lucky to be local and close to home and not halfway across the country. These things happen. Get a replacement and move on.
