Fox Box Rox!!! (Joe Fox Sub Box) 05 Quad Cab

Just wanted to give my opinion on this box, as I know it has been posted here and there. I think it is well worth the cost, and fits under the seats perfectly. I bought the dual 12" sealed enclosure, and I could not be happier. Right now I have some older JL W0s running off of an older Directed 1100D sub amp. I threw some polyfill in it for good measures, and I think it sounds great. Not going to win any SPL shows, but for my use/taste, it is perfect. Thumbs up to Joe and this setup.

how long did it take you to swap out the storage shelves and put that in? was it easy?

Mike Jazz 07-29-2009 09:51 PM

It took about 30 or so minutes to unbolt all the rear seat area/parts. Pretty much unbolt the seats....unbolt the storage tray, and install the seat risers/spacers, and you are done. Forgot to add, when you unbolt the seats, now is the time to unbolt the latches on the back wall and turn them upside down, so as to have the upper/back portion of seat fold forward. Overall, very easy to do this all. The box literally drops right in.

weedahoe 07-29-2009 09:54 PM

If you have shelves, they are only help in by a few nuts. The box simply drops in (although you should bolt it down).

ramhunter9 07-29-2009 09:56 PM

you put a good amp on them it will sound even better

yfz450r 07-29-2009 10:02 PM

where did you put your amp at? thinking about installing some subs myself

weedahoe 07-29-2009 10:12 PM

Look on ebay. Thats where I got all of my gear.

yfz450r 07-29-2009 10:21 PM

but with the seat risers is their enough room under there for an amp?

dodge it then ram it 07-29-2009 10:23 PM

I got a pair of 8" subs and an amp for $50 on craigslist. Not top of the line and only 200 watts but its sounds awesome as hell. First time I ever did subs. Cant figure why I didnt do it 2 years ago.

hemipower05 07-29-2009 10:42 PM

how can u bolt down the foxbox? how have u guys done it?

sharkhunter10 07-29-2009 10:54 PM

I want the fox box but dont know if i want to get sealed or vented! I love bass and I know they say ported or vented is better. I have the vented fox box link saved but cant find it on there web site. Do they still sell it?

I actually purchased a 2x12 Sealed Foxbox this weekend and he refunded my money. He told me he sold his equipment and hes running low on all of his products, i think hes down to 2x10 sealed right now, which you can open up to work for two 12s but he ordered some new equipment and hes gonna start making new boxes in the next few weeks. Those boxes are going to be 2.0 cubic feet instead of 1.8, so you might want to wait. I think he said it was going to be the middle of august before they were ready.

BTW Sharkhunter, I work in LR, Live in Sherwood, I am surprised I've never seen you around.

Take a 1/4" by 2" bolt with some flat and a rubber washer and a lock nut. Go get your drill and drill a 1/4" hole in the bottom bowl of the box through the plastic and through the floor pan. The run the bolt through there with a flat washer and rubber washer with another flat washer and nut on the bottom. Do that on each side. Do bos will hit a lot harder when bolted down and not bouncing around

No, they have to go behind the seat. The box takes up the room under the seat

24tbarker 07-30-2009 09:13 AM

Will this box work on the 09's?

Maybe this is why he hasn't finished building the single sub box yet. I have been asking for a updated status from him, but he never replies (seems to be common practice)

Sealed is for deeper, accurate bass, vented is for louder bass, it really depends on what you are looking for.

Mike Jazz 08-05-2009 02:13 AM

Well I followed Weed's suggestion about bolting it down, and he is right.....sounds a whole heck of a lot better. Didn't really think it would make too big a difference, as it seemed the box fit in the cubby quite tightly, but it did.

weedahoe 08-05-2009 07:34 AM

Glad it worked out for you and you like it. Joe said he used to pre-drill all the bottom of his boxes for that same reason but some people complained about the holes as it wasnt a "sealed" box anymore. But hell, we were only talking two 1/4" holes. He made a very good point that all somewould have to do is put a peice of duct tape over it and the sound pressure itself would never let it come up but because of the complaint he quit pre-drilling them.

Gradshemi 07-27-2011 03:01 PM

Where did you get that box?

Sparacis 06-19-2012 11:02 PM

I have one if anyone wants it.

gHEMImorePower 06-21-2012 12:05 AM

Just curious, what type of music do you listen to? And how do the subs sound with it
