Having 17" over 20" rims, higher gears than 3.92 will all make it easier to haul your trailer but they still do not increase what your truck can pull. There should be a sticker on the drivers door or pillar when you open it, this is what your truck can legally pull. If you go over this rating and you are the cause of an accident....not good for you!

Your question was answered.... you can haul approximately 5850# to spare for towing....
That is assuming you have the Quad Cab and a Short bed with the 4.7L Motor and REGULAR (non-HD) Transmission.
If you want to increase that weight limit then you can go with a gooseneck hitch (kinda like a 5th wheel) and a real car hauler trailer. If you are planning on hauling more than one car I'd suggest you upgrade your truck to either a Dually with at least a 4.10 rear or ideally a Cummins Diesel 2500 or 3500 Ram
Ultimately it's your call.. also the 17" Wheels with E-Rated Tires will only increase towing capacity slightly and will cause your speedo to read incorrectly unless you tune it... With the 4.7L engine and the regular 4 or 5 speed trans you "could" tow maybe 7500# before you really start running into issues with suspension and steering/brake control...

You bought a half ton smallest V-8 you could find to pull a trailer with a car on it for a living? Sorry bud you are not making a living very long with that setup..
Sell it get at the minimum a 3/4 better yet a 1 ton preferably with the cummins diesel in it.. A lot better mileage pulling that much weight.. You can add air bags to the half ton to make it a bit safer but you still do not have the weight and brakes to stop the trailer and a full sized car safely..

hi everyone i really thank everyone for the respond ! just want to say today i puled 4300 lbs suv on my trailer 2200 lbs with my ram 1500 Quad Cab 4.7l v8 3.92 gears short bed and also i had my tool box was full of tools and equipment about 3 lbs total with the tool box so i would say i was about 11900 lbs {a trailer, suv and my truck }i was driving normal went very good very smooth i drove about 90 miles no issues whatsoever!
i will stay with what everyone advised in here witch is not to go over 5850 lbs as must of y'all suggested to be safe and legal . i will really think about getting me 3/4 or one ton in the future after i save some money to add it to what is my truck worth !
thank y'all for the advise and everyone have a safe and a happy new year!

pretty much all 4.7 with 3.93 gears and auto tranny 12500 max total
you can actually change this stuff for more tow capacity but legal 12.5k is it.
all 4.7 are like this just they just don't have the same start weight.
