RPM's in Tow/Haul mode

Irecently bought a 2004.5 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel (high output with 3.73 axle ratio) and have a question about therpm's in Tow/Haul mode. I just pulled my horse trailer(5000 lbs) for the first time with this truckand the rpm's were 2600 going 65 mph. Is this normal ? The only reason I ask is it seems a little high, although I have very little experience towing so I have nothing to compare it to. Thanks for any feedback.

RE: RPM's in Tow/Haul mode

That's what tow/haul mode is all about. It turns your overdrive off so that you get higher RPM's for low end torque and sacrifices on top end speed. You could turn your overdrive back on and you rpm's would go down but you would burn up your transmission.
