Western Snow Plow

Western Snow Plow
I have 7 1/2 foot western plow on my 2006 dodge ram 1500 lone star edition. I used it all last year and never had an issue. This year the battery gauge drops really low when I lift my plow. Sometime the check gauge light comes on and the truck shuts off. I am considering either installing a second battery or a bigger alternator. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Just a couple ideas.........
Charge and load test your current battery. Have your alternator tested.
Ensure all electrical connections are clean and tight. Thoroughly check electrical insulation for wear and or blisters from rubbing or overheating. Pump motor or pump going south?
For home use once or twice a month stuff I would think the stock setup should be fine.
If I were installing an electric/hyd plow on mine for doing more than home use I would certainly consider the dual battery along with a battery maintainer/charger for overnight.
