Itwould be cool if Dodge (or someone) was to offer the 4 cyl Cummins B4-239 turbodiesel in a full size pickup. A 4 CYLINDER! You say! Why yes! Of Course! The Cummins 4 cylinder 4-239 engine puts out over 400 ft/lbs of torque! And it woud get, to the best of my calculations, somewhere around 28-30 highway mpg at 55mph ! I am surprised that Dodge is not offering the 5 cyl Mercedees diesel in the light duty truck line. In those huge Sprinter vans they get a real world 25mpg (Unloaded crusing at 60mph.) They allready have the engine. They allready have the transmission. If they would just DO it, I would consider another Dodge truck again. (In THAT configuration.)

 

They are in 2009 I been told for the 1500 trucks.

Ford started to but backed out VW, Misubishi, Toyota use to the old Dodge Mini Trucks came with turbo 4 it's aMisubishi truck.back around 1982 or so.

I think Nisson did it also around that time frame also.

 

I can't wait for a diesel to return in a half ton. I miss my old 6.5tdI had before I bought this one. Everything I have heard is that Dodge is going with the Cummins V6 diesel in their half tons.

 

Cummins V-6 diesel???? Never heard if that one. What is the engine model? Do you know what the displacement will be?

I want a diesel now after reading that article...He is my age too...or was....

 

I still subscribe to diesel power mag even though I don't own one now. I will again someday. That is a great magazine!
