Default what are your thoughts on undercoat

ok so i will be moving my wife back to Ohio along with my truck before I ship off to the sanbox. Ohio gets a ton of snow and roads loaded with salt. It ate the hell out of my old truck. So I was wondering if it's worth undercoating the truck before the winter hits. What do you guys think?

I know it's good for sound dampening, but not really sure about the snow thing. You might want to try to do it your self, if you do it, because I have always been told it is a high cost job.

I never knew how much it cost...

But, back in high school, i worked as a porter at a Toyota Dealership. They had us do the undercoating, i didnt know what the **** i was doing really, just spraying that **** up underneath when the car was on the lift.

If you feel its worth your while, take it somewhere where you know they will do a good job, and not have a jag bag like me doing it...

I have had cars and trucks with and without undercoating, GET THE UNDERCOATING!! It cost about $120 for my 08 1500 qc. I also put on a counteract system to help protect the places the undercoat can't travel. I traded my 2000 ram on the new one, I got it in 04 and protected it, there was a small surface spot on the tailgate where the bed liner rubbed, that's it. Here in Newfoundland, we know snow & salt. LOL

^^^^^^I agree, get it shot. I live in northern Indiana and yes, we know salt and snow too. I had mine done at the dealership before it was delivered, and haven't regretted it yet. No rust

Make absolutely sure they pressure wash the underbody first so the undercoat adheres properly.

Lived my 1st twenty-six years in upstate N.Y. and always got undercoating, seen too many eaten away that didn't.
Never did in Ga. but now that I'm in Fl., when I put my headers in I noticed some rust starting. Must be the salt air. Seriously considered undercoating, but that was a year and a half ago and I didn't. Now you got me thinking again.
I may go under with a fine steel wool and get the surface rust off and bite the bullet.

There is a product that I saw in the Quadratec Catalog... I think it was POR or PUR or something like that... getting it for the jeep project to protect the frame and body tub from anymore damage. Supposed to be able to treat the surfaces with a solution, then go over everything with the coating. Supposed to be able to even cover up rust itself.
