I just got my 05 RAM 1500 a few weeks ago and have the 20's with the "plasti-chrome" covers . The balancing weights are mounted on the outside so I cant take them off to see what's under the covers (new tires this week and I will have the weights moved to the back of the rim). What is the texture of the wheels behind the cover? Smooth and something that can be polished or is it rough?

im wondering the same thing.. but i dont know if those plastic covers will really come off, will they?.. i was going to try and swap with someone that just has the machine finished alloys, and maybe make a hundred bucks or something, and then paint them..

i dunno..

They are attached to the wheel somehow, glued I am thinking. Not just help on the the wheel weights.

Hmmm, someone must have been brave enough by now to try and get them off...maybe a little WD-40 or Goo Gone sprayed behind the cover.
