found a vid about dodge ram with sts racing with ford lighting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGkwuszp1sE
skip to about 1:13 and you will see 3 gen newer style dodge ram with sts. this truck is pushing around 435 hp with stock tranny. i may get sts turbo but it will happen when the economy gets better OH MY GOD IT got a amazing sound and way better than all the muffler for dodge ram. |
Nice vid and that QC ram is fast for only 5 lbs. Whoever tuned that lightning needs to be shot....it shouldn't have blown with only a pulley swap 105k miles or not.
|
true but abuse many times for that kind of miles can happen like this. i have never had a experience having a or owned supercharger . also i never had turbo'd car but i have ridden an evo.
It is cool to see that qc hemi beat lighting because most utube vid that lighting beat srt 10 |
Anything with forced induction from the factory is easy to make extremely fast. Anything else needs major cubes (SRT10) or real modifications to go fast, especially when you're talking about 6klb+ trucks.

The 5.4L is a really stout engine. The 4.6L and 5.4L overhead cam engines react really well to boost. The 2 valve 5.4L went from 260hp to 380hp with less compression and mild boost from the factory. The heads and cams are the same, just better internals with lower compression pistons.
The 385hp 5.4L DOHC in the 2000 Cobra R jumped to 500hp in the GT500 Cobra Mustang when supercharged and 550hp in the GT supercar. Not bad for 330ci. Saleen is soon to be offering a 700hp supercharged 5.7L Hemi in his SCS Challenger :) |
Meanwhile Hyundai gets 375 hp (and ~ 330tq) from 4.6 liters without forced induction. Maybe Ford can catch up to their technology one day!
Don't think I'm a Ford basher though. I've always thought they should have put the 3-valve 4.6, along with a 5spd auto, into the Town Car / Crown Vic / Grand Marquis as soon as they were introduced in the Explorer. |
Yeah, the very small bore spacing is what kills the current modular engines without forced induction.
The new version is much better. the 2010 F150 will get a 400hp 6.2l version and Jack Roush has a 7L version running no power adder on E-85 making about 800hp in a Mustang Drag Car. |
God that Turbo Ram was haullin but the viper ram showed whos top dawg!!! wicked vid... Poor FORD :(
|
yeah that dodge with the turbo sounds nasty
