Tire options for 275/60R20 stock replacement??
Afternoon all, I have a 2005 1500 4X4 and I'm looking to replace the 275/60/R20's with something better with more teeth. I would like to get another inch or two so my question is this, have any of you kept the factory 20 inch rims and found taller tires at a decent price?
And the follow up question is what size did you go with and did you have nay issues with taller tires?
Thanks in advance!
Gregg

Large 20 inchers are expensive and limited in selection. That is why some decide to go to 17 inch. The issue at hand however is your "inch or two." Your current tires are 33 inches high, going to 34" and definately 35" will cause you clearance problems with out a lift. If they are wider, you will need spacers. Neither is a big deal, it's personal perference. Use the tread search, tires and wheels are one of the top discusson items on this forum.

Cooper's are great. Had about 2 feet of snow recently and drove all over the place without chains. I did have them siped when I bought them. The stock goodyear's that I had on the truck were cracked (ozone cracks) and the tire company I bought the coopers through contacted a goodyear rep.and got me a $380 credit towards the purchase of new tires. I bought the cooper zeon's and have been very pleased.

i hated the long trails on my old truck (f150) and also the bfg at ko i hated too. wore great just at ko had a better tread pattern for the aggressive looks and wore alright but the long trails were just terrible. thats just my experience with them. only had them for 12k until i decided to burn em off to go with the bfg at ko.
stock tires on 20s are roughly 33x11.8ishx20 and they have about half inch of clearance from upper a-arm. so with anything wider than that you will need spacers. i put 1/4 spacers on mine just for the hell of it because i know im going to go up a few sizes in summer.
i have the toyo open country at now and they are a great tire and arent that expensive. $220ish a tire. WAY WAY better than the stock goodyears. not even comparable. dont cheap out on tires. the toyos have a great tread pattern and look great. you will not be able to fit 35s with stock setup. need at least a leveling kit. i wish i got 35x12.5 toyo open country mt's. i like aggressive tread. i think nitto tg,toyo oc at and mickey thomson baja atz have the most agressive treads for at tires and look teh best on these trucks. look at tank222ft truck he has the mt baja atz and his truck looks great.
