Larger tires on stock rims

Soon I will be looking for new tires and want a larger setup to fill the gaps in the wheel well. Truck is not lifted (5.9 4x4 QC) and dont want it to be for the moment (pregnant wife) but want it to look beefier. Going with an aftermarket setup is I guess ok, but I figure I can save some cheese going with a larger tire on the stock 17s. Any help on what to get?
Thanks

dodge it then ram it 02-28-2009 06:40 PM

Does your truck have 33's on it? You can go maybe up to 34" without a leveling kit. The rims are 17x8 so your max tire width is about 11 or 12 inches I believe.

ya i would beleive you could fit a 33-35 on the 17's no lift

On the stock 17's on your 02 (torsion bar 4x4 model) you can fit 33x12.5's. Like Nim I have the 285x70x17 (33x11.5) and they fit, but I could fit a larger tire on my 05 (also torsion bar model). If you want a beefy look get 33x12.5x17 MT's or put a level kit on and go with 35's.
