05 ram offroad/lifted

hey im thinkin about liftin my 05 ram 1500 about 6-8 inches. just looking for some idea as to how that would look. I was also wonderin (to anyone who takes theirs offroad) how these trucks hold up over rough terrain, and if their durable for this type of stuff. i just bought a ram and its my first dodge so i'm kinda new to it.

Our IFS front ends are pretty weak compared to a solid axle (2500 or 3500) series truck. 6" Suspension Lifts put the CV at a pretty severe angle, couple that with a heavy tire and a torquey engine and you could easily have a major fail off road.
I've been a strong believer that unless you can do major front end field repairs yourself, 4" and 35" tires are the max on an IFS truck that will see off road use.

Now I have just that, but plan on adding a 3" body lift for 7" total lift and going to 37" tires in the near future. But, the body lift in combination does not raise the CV angle any more. The tire size and weight is an issue, but my truck is no longer a daily driver, and I can swap out a CV axle in the field if need be...

There are a few guys here run 37s, but I don't think any are doing it with all suspension lift. Also, I don't believe any of them are the hard core off road types. I'm not anymore either, I have an ATV for that. But I do need the lift just for where I hunt and fish.

Here's what 4" of suspension and 35" tires looks like"

Me too, and it's MY truck, so there!!!:D

Don't bi*ch too much, I almost replaced the color match side trim pieces and windows vents with chrome ones a couple years ago...

But it's gonna have to go when I install the body lift, I'm going to 37x13.5s, the extra width is gonna dictate fender flares, they'll be color matched...;)

I really need them now, first thing I do up in Ga, even if it's running the dirt roads is clean four red clay rooster tails off the side of the truck...

Why color match them when you can get hideous chrome ones..

These trucks hold up real well offroad. I only have a leveling kit on mine, and I push it pretty damn hard. It hits the dirt woops and jumps really well. (Can post pics if interested :D)
