Default how much backspacing with no lift?

my stockers are getting down to the wear bar so im starting to look at new tires. i want to do some off roading....just some mud bogging and i cant find tires in 20s, plus i dont want to keep the chrome daisy rims anyways. i want to do 17s, something like this style but not sure how much backspacing i can do. i read the faq and searched but still didnt find anything that helped. how much backspacing can i use with no lift. the no lift is just temporary, i plan on doing a 4 or 6" lift in the future

If you have leveled the truck by putting in the keys or cranking the T bars you can run 33's on a 17 inch rim with at least 4.5" backspace. RH1 with the 20's i think stayed close to the factory rims he just took off and like he said needed spacers. I cranked my T bars and my rims are 17x10's with 4" backspace and don't need spacers.

I have 33's with no level and no spacers and i am running fine and the stock wheel as well so why do you need the spacing unless you are going a 12.5 tire
