An excellent question regarding warranties; yes I believe at least on paper they will be validated but the catch 22 may be when the warranties start 'getting sold' to 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. parties and you have an endless paper trail just like the home mortgage mess was when people didn't really know who held the note! And we will be the one's to scavenge the trail.
Sure "HOPE" I'm wrong on this one!

READ THIS!!! OHHHH NOOOOOO Current owners will not be covered for their warranties. Only purchases made Yesterday and forward. BS President Barack Obama made clear at his press conference on Monday that the U.S. government would stand behind warranties on cars purchased while the automakers restructure. "Let me say this as plainly as I can: If you buy a car from Chrysler or General Motors, you will be able to get your car serviced and repaired just like always," Obama said. "Your warranty will be safe. In fact, it will be safer than it has ever been. Because starting today, the United States will stand behind your warranty." But for many current and future GM or Chrysler car owners — and more than a few car dealers — the government promise is a bit of a head spinner. For example, if you're the happy owner of a GM or Chrysler car now, does the new government backing pertain to you? (No.) If you purchase a GM or Chrysler car today, are you covered? (Yes.) Last week? (No.) And if you buy while either company is in bankruptcy? (Yes.)

I sure hope so I just pulled my paperwork on my MAX care warranty for the RAM, paid $1800 for it which was a big discount and it's suppose to cover every mechanical part for as long as I retain ownership. Have to roll my eyes on this one now though, web site says "trust" in a reliable warranty holder "Chrysler LLC" - guess we'll see...

As far as Obama goes, how much hope can you have in a guy that thinks there is some "Magic" hypoallergenic dog breed!!!

I couldn't agree with you more, in fact you've made my point - if Chrysler can't float then the Fiat CEO will cut the rope. ...and as for BHO - well I see him as 'HOPEless'!!! - the 'chains' you can believe in***

When I got my truck last year I bought the lifetime bumper to bumper and it came with the lifetime powertrain warranty. I called my local dealership earlier and asked if Chrysler filing for ch.11 was going to effect them. He told me that none of what was going on in the company will effect my warranties and that I will always have them unless I somehow void them. I sure hope he knew what he was talking about.
