how do I replace the front shocks

Newbie here;;;;how do I replace the front shocks on my 06 Ram Q-cab 4x4 5.7L?? (55k miles) It looks like the spring is part of the shock?? True? they don't seem to be struts. I would like some guidance before I rip into this.
Thanks

The shocks simply go up in the middle of the springs. You will need a wrench and a jack! Actually, you will need to take apart some of it to slide the shock out of the bottom. Good luck.........kind of a big job. Have some help...

I think that depends on weather you have a 2wd or 4wd? I know that you can not just change a shock on my 4wd. I did take my strut/shock assembly things out to put a leveling kit in and it was not to bad.

The two major things that throw a wrench in the change is disconecting the outer tie rod end and the lower ball joint. Aslo be careful not to let the brake caliper drop down suddenly and break or stretch your brake lines. Its a tight squeze getting the strut in and out but it will go.

Now once you get it out I dont know about changing the shock but I know that at the very least you will need a spring compressor.
