DMH Exhaust Cutout ?

I just received my DMH exhaust cutout today in the mail, and while examining it with my brothers, we were all kind of confused about the cutout itself. For some reason I had this impression that there was going to be another butterfly valve inside the tube to cut off exhaust flow going into the exhaust system. Seems a little weird to me that even when the cutout is open that exhaust can still go through the existing exhaust system. I find it particulary stranger that if you were running an aftermarket system that it'd be going out of the cutout and the aftermarket muffler at the same time. Am I right about this, or is there something I'm missing?

air will go where it can escape first...

The exhaust will flow out the cutout, just open it after you have it hooked up and put your hand infront of the opening if you need more convincing.

It takes the path of least resistance, it'll be fine, and makes things really fun...

Awesome, can't wait guys. Since I'm not having him install the electric motor there, I'll just open it manually until I have my older brother help me do the wiring. Can't wait to hear that hemi roar!

...btw Teach, signature picture shows that truck off much better than the previous one. Looks awesome.

The wiring is really easy and once you get it on there you will probably never close it :D.

Thanks for the compliment on the sig pic, I like having everything blacked out now.

Slap me if i'm retarded but what is a DMH exhaust cutout? :icon_doh:

It is a mechanical valve that you put in-line in your exhaust system before your muffler. When it is closed the exhaust flows through the system normally, when it is open the exhaust exits prior to the muffler and sounds bad a$$ :D. I have a clip around here somewhere of mine open so you can hear what it sounds like.

Here it is, it is just a light throttle acceleration since I don't really want to piss off the neighbors but it gives you an idea of what it sounds like open.

So it definitely makes the truck louder? I piss of my neighbors already having longtubes and dual exhaust lol i'm sure they'd love this...
