1500 snow plow help? plz

I have a 2007 ram 1500 mega cab 5.7 hemi 4x4.

i looked over the owners manuel and it said a snow plow can set off air bags on the 1500 models. has any one had this problem?

i have the dodge bumber to bumber lifetime warrenty...will this effect it at all if say my transmission goes out.

thanks
dan

Good luck with answers. I know there are couple of guys on here that run plows on their rigs, mostly in winter time, lol.

I would think that the plow would void your warranty in some ways, but which ones they are, Im not sure. Just depends on what your fighting. I have never heard of a plow setting of the airbags, however, one thing that does come to mind, is a common over heating issue with the flow in service. As you could imagine, the plow would restrict SOME air....

Lets us know what you find!

I know you're not really supposed to put a plow on the regular 1500's, but the 1500 Mega Cabs are built on a 2500 frame, so I would assume it would be able to handle it. But don't quote me on that, since I don't know how much of the rest of the truck is the same as the 2500. Maybe someone with a Mega Cab can chime in with a more definite answer.

Everytime this is brought up, everybody confirms that the MC's are on 2500 chassis. I tend to agree; just look at their stance compared to the QC 1500's.

I do know this; when Ford sells their pickups, they always say that warranties to apply to ambulance used vehicles, and vehicles with plows mounted. Where I read that, I cant remember, and it has been a few years since i read it, so there could be some stipulations on that.

Megacab is classified on paper as a 1500 series, but in reality it is identical to the 2500 series frames. You should have no issue's with airbags going off. Besides the fact that many guys plow with 1500's and don't have any issue's. 1500's i suppose could set off the airbags if you are beating the crap out of your truck and think that you can push entire piles of snow or go blastinging into piles at 30mph. That's not what 1500's are made for at all. Your 2500 frame truck is made for that. Go pound away at those snow piles!!!

Yeah, I believe the air bag issue is aimed at traditional 1500 Dodge trucks. The Mega Cab 1500 is built on the HD frame. You'll have no issues operating a plow with it...

thanks guys you have been a great help. i didnt know for sureif i had a 2500 frame or not but i suspected so because when i was looking into a 3 inch lift, mega cabs are always with the 2500 and 3500. so i suspect i would need a 2500 plow adapter also. And what do you think about the warrenty? would something like a new transmission or transfercase be cover because i plow with it?

Does your 1500 MC have the snow plow prep package? If not I will bet the dealers will not honor the warranty. Best bet is to ask the dealer and get it in writing.

I plow with a mega cab

I joined this forum just to weigh in on plowing with a Mega cab. I have a 06 1500 and have been plowing with it for 3 yrs. I have a Boss 7.6 superduty with wings. I also run with a rear snowman snowplow that compliments nicely and adds great ballast and traction when needed. Only big deal is the wheel base and I pop a u-joint ocasionaly. If anyones still looking at this thread ask me some q's
