Default another muffler thread

I used to have a Magnaflow 14", got rid of it because I got tired of the slight drone on the highway, and the GF would gte mad every time I hit the gas.

Thought an e-cutout would be great, but I straight piped the truck for a few days and yes it's loud, but it sounds so unrefined it annoyed me.

So now I'm back to stock. The quiet is nice, but I want a bit of rumble when I lean into it a little. The AIRAID MIT really does sound good, and it's just right in that it makes noise when I want, and it's a nice deep sound.

Don't want it loud, just complement the AIRAID, but be almost non existent at idle and low revs. Anyone got advice on a 3" I/O CHEAP muffler that can do that? I was thinking a 18" or 24" magnaflow, but they're expensive.

I don't want to spend much money on this at all because I'll probably change my mind in a few months anyway, and don't care for the dual out. It doesn't even have to be stainless. Doesn't have to be crazy high flowing or anything, apparently opening the exhaust up moves the torque higher up the curve anyway, and I don't want that.

Which Magnaflow did you have? I have a Thrush two-chamber and it is a little on the loud side. I was looking at one of the 5" diameter tube looking Magnaflows....

You want to hear the exhaust, but you don't want so dang loud that you cannot speak to each other in the cab! LOL

I have a truck, not a Nascar....my Thrush is not too bad, but it sounds a little on the harsh side. I wonder if the Magnaflow is a little more mellow.

kinda like having 20's on a truck? or like having a painted bumper step?

I had (I think) a 5x8 oval, 3"/2.25" dual out 14". It honestly was a pretty mellow exhaust, just a SLIGHT drone at 65.
