2006 1500 2wd - 6" Fabtech lift install

I am installing a Fabtech 6" lift on a 2006 2wd tomorrow. I will try to take enough pics along the way to do a write-up if anyone is interested.

I did a leveling kit install write-up a couple years ago and posted it on here. I have since done a few more of those and a couple of the Rough Country 3" kits. This is my first 6" Dodge kit and I am pretty pumped to get started now that the weather has decided to clear up.

I am also installing a set of the Amp Research/Bestop power steps. Those come after the lift though.

Here is a pic of the kit unboxed.

I have to say, if Fabtech packages all of their products as poorly as they did this kit....they won't ever see a dime from me. I don't care if you have a quality kit or not; if you can't seal a plastic bag full of nuts and bolts, you shouldn't be selling kits. There really is no telling if all of those nuts and bolts are present or not. One of the rear u-bolts is MIA. I'm going to try to get one overnighted Monday when they are open again. I will at least get the front done until then.
I know the front crossmembers, coils, and spindles are heavy duty and are not going to break in shipping, but the ziploc bag quality plastic they were wrapped in was a joke.
It doesn't make this a bad kit or of poor quality, poor packaging is just a pet peave of mine. When people spend as much on these kits as they do, I think they deserve better. (I do lift kit and accessory installs 'on the side')

Fabtech is in bankruptcy, the packaging was probably sh*t because they are piecing kits together from whatever is sitting in warehouses I would guess.
If that kit is as bad as their torsion front end lift for '02-'05 1500 4x4s, don't even bother to install it. Ask AFHemi about his kit...

Haha...yeah. That's what he wanted. The customer bought everything; just hired me to install it. It is a nice truck though. He was talking about adding a 3" body lift and running 38s, but I told him to stick with the 35s.

Interesting. It doesn't surprise me though. For 2wd trucks, longer spindles are great, but the longer coils for these newer Dodge trucks are generally overly stiff. These 6" coils are HEAVY and I can already tell you, they are going to be stiff and rough. And I don't think the low quality Fabtech shocks are going to help enough.
I guess we'll see when it's all done.
