Hammer's DIY on brights and fogs together
I know somebody posted another question about how to do this the other day but I searched and can't find it and looked through 8 or 9 pages and can't find it.
Anyway, I just wired up Hammer's DIY so that my fogs will stay on when I hit the high beams, and it works. But what also happens is the fogs go on when I just turn the headlights on lowbeam as well. In other words, the fogs are on anytime the headlights are on - high beam or not. Just wanted to check and make sure this was correct and/or if there is a way to have this and still be able to turn off the fogs when I want? I run my fogs 99% of the time my headlights are on anyway, so it's no big deal. Just checking to see if there are other options. |
yup, thats what theyre supposed to do... whenever you have any lights on the fogs will be on.
i did the mod too... no problems so far... |
I have a question about this, but for the 06-08’s. On the 06-08’s, I read that the dealer is supposed to be able to change a setting with their Starscan tool to enable the fogs to stay on with the high beams. My question, for anyone with a 06-08 that had this done, does the fog lights stay on with the headlights at all times like the 02-04’s? Or, since it’s done in the computer, can you still shut off the fog lights if you want when the headlights are on? I’m only asking, since I was going to the dealer next week and was going to ask if they would do this.

Hey 04HemiGreg what is the DIY hammers headlight kit? I've got a 05 2500 ram and am intersted in doing this to mine. Let me know about it if you could, thanks.

I don't have the link because I printed it out when Hammer posted it so I could use it as a guide. It's very easy to do by just jumping 2 specific pins together with a wire inside the fuse box. I bought some 16 gauge automotive wire to do it. Not sure how much the gauge matters. You could pm hammer for it or maybe he'll see this and post the DIY link.

ya, you need to program it under international not us. it's illegal in some states to have them on with high beams, so check your state laws so you know if it's even legal.
|
Which never made any sense to me. You run high beams only when nobody is in front of you so why do they care how much light you're putting out at that point?
The headlights on my 92 GMC put these to shame on low beam compared to the Dodge's high beams. On high (wired for all 4 at once) it was like daylight, and that was on headlight technology from 20 years ago. I can't believe Dodge still handicaps their trucks with a single bulb per side. |
I have a question about the diy, it looks like the wire is runing to the relay for the adjustable pedals (yes/no?), where do you put it if you dont have this relay? Thanks guys.

i dont have adjustible pedals and mine works fine. i'll go take a pic.
