Wow, just wondering how those get so dirty? Is the pic of the back side? Is it a 4.7L thing perhaps? You probably will feel a difference for sure after cleaning that baby.

heres a vid of my horn, i think the solenoid isnt opening quick enough or fully, you can here the burst first before the horn sounds. its at 105 psi and the horn can operate at 80 psi. so im not sure whats going on with that. any ideas?

Thanks thats what I thought but reason I asked is I've owned mine for three years and when I got it it was abused and had 192 K but never did the throttle body look like that. I bought the truck for a reasonable price at the time and have since spend 12K on parts including about 250 bucks farmed out for welding and a re-flash, everything else I did myself. I now have 225 K so 33 K in 3 years is good (20 thousands miles). With all the talk here about cleaning TB's (and you say should be done every 30 or so) I decided to do that last week along with some other maintenance and It still looked pretty well like new aluminum with just a touch of soot in the corners around the Plate Pin and in the front bottum of the Hat Box side, so I must be very very lucky and my set-up must be clean burn or somethhing as I also have very little soot in the exhaust.

Sorry for the long winded narrative but in my world I find it strange is all. But definately have a look at it at least annually or like you say 30 K max.

yea I've just heard 30k. Mine wasnt first cleaned until after 100k miles on it. I usually clean it around every 10k, just a wipe down and spray just to stay on top of things. Only takes 20 minutes and if I'm changing the oil or doing other work under the hood I just go ahead and give it a quick clean anyways.
