Super chip reflash???
Hi guy's, found a super cheap SC for 70 bucks, for my 2003 dodge ram 5.7. Went down to the dudes house to test it out. So we plugged it up and it said the vin was locked. So i told him to fix it before i bought it. But was just wondering if there was a cheap way i could get it reflashed so i could use it on my truck till i find a a decent deal on a DSP. Let me know

$100 is the cost to unlock it if the owner doesnt return the tuner back to stock. Curious, what SC did you get? The 3815 or 3865? Either way, $170 is still a good deal on both.

ahh I forgot about that one. Did it look like this?
or these?
If it looks like the first one then its a MAX tuner and not a flashpaq. The MAX tuners are not internet upgradeable nor able to update through the internet(correct me if Im wrong). This means if you need an update or to "unlock" the tuner, you would need to ship the unit to Superchips and pay them to unlock/update it. The 3715 is a decent tuner but is pretty outdated now. Here's a link to the user manual and it includes instructions on how to return a vehicle back to stock and therefore "unlocking" the tuner so it will be allowed to work on another vehicle. http://www.scribd.com/doc/13051559/S...15-User-Manual
Having the current owner plugging the tuner back into his truck and returning the tuner back to stock status is the only option you have to get it to work on your truck unless you want to ship the tuner to Superchips and pay them an unlock fee + shipping back to you.
Now if it's one of the last two, then you can update through the computer. The current owner should still return the tuner back to stock or else you'll still need to pay an unlock fee. Only upside is the 3815 and 3865 pictured above have the ability to download an unlock program from superchips so you don't need to ship the item to them.

Yea the kid lived by the beach in a very nice area. But when i texted him he seemed kinda shady. First thing i told him was i need to see it work before i give him any money. He tried to convince me that it worked fine, his parents were there too and said the same thing. At any rate it was the one SC on the top, the skinny one that looks like it lost some weight.
