Default engine tick...not on a hemi?

Ill start off by saying that my truck does not have a hemi. So lately if I get in my truck when its been sitting for a few hours I hear a tick, and it gets louder with rpm. However the tick goes away as it nears operating temperature, usually above 160*F. I dont know if it could be a leaky manifold, a valve cover gasket, or something else. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! And please no "use the search"comments, I only found one non-hemi related tick thread. Thanks again! *edit* I discovered this sound when I removed my cutouts. I couldnt hear it before so it may have been making this sound for a while now.

You are just going to have to go over everything carefully. The slightly tightening your exh manifold bolts to see if one is loose or broken. Check for other exh leaks as well including pin holes in the exh was degradation or bad welds

^^ what he said, I was thinkin maybe a bolt's loose and when the manifold heats up and expands it fills the gap and the leak stops? idk it's a possibility at least?

Thats how mine was also. The exact same one. Luckily I could easier turn it out with pliers although I was prepared to reverse thread it.
