05 5.7 Won't take fuel
I have an 05, 5.7, 1500 ram, that will not take fuel. I don't understand why. when i try to fill it up it wont take gas the truck triggers the nozzle as if its completely full and no more gas fits even though I know its completely empty. so I kinda have to play with it so I can get a few gallons in. I don't know what it could be. Please help If u have any ideas

i have seen pumps pump to fast for some vehicles other than that Idk

clogged vent?
|
It's happened to me before you have to put it in only 1/2 way and it works sometimes. Another thing I hate is I have to watch every time I fill up cause it always wants to overflow.
|
^^^^^same deal here. pull the nozzle like half way out and you should be good.
|
I think it's because the filler neck has such a small diameter and the fact it has a straight run rather than being all downhill.
I'm on the constant look-out for mine overflowing. Has happened once at the very end of my fill. The nozzle didn't stop fast enough...prob because the neck is so freakin small. |
I would check the canstier or vacuum lines going to it
|
Yeah, just look inside your rear wheel well and you can see your vent/vacuum lines.

Idunno Im gonna check the vacc lines and vent. Its weird though Ive never had that problem. I live in california so the gas pumps have these special caps to prevent fumes from escaping so the nozzle doesnt go that deep. it has to be somthing else because it just started happening. I used to be able to set the nozzle and let it pump until it filled up but now i really have to struggle to fill it up.

had a chrysler with the same problem. dealership pulled tank and had to replace some kind of roll over protection thing. it is supposed to keep gas from leaking out in case of a roll over.
