Default Why can't we have PTO Idle-up like diesels?

A buddy of mine has a 2007 Dodge Cummins and when he cold starts it can turn his cruise control on and idle it up or down with the ACCEL/COAST buttons. He said he took it in and had the dealer enable it in the computer. It is called PTO Idle Up. As far as I can tell, it only works on the diesels. Why can't the gas engines have this? Isn't it all electronically controlled anymore anyways? One of my biggest complaints with my 4.7 is that it idles so low on a cold start up. No wonder it knocks and I get all the valve train noise for the first couple minutes. It needs to idle higher to build oil pressure! Can this be done, or does anyone know of an add-on for this?

There was a thread about this awhile ago, never really found an answer for how you could get a 'high idle switch'

Yea, I found it here: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...le-switch.html. Nothing that helps.

If you have a Superchips, that has a PTO idle option, at least it does for the Hemi.

I also was going to suggest a tuner to bump up the idle. My initial cold start RPM is close to 2k (admittedly it needs to be lower though) and idle is around 700-750 in gear while around 650 in P

I had an old 6.9 liter diesel in a ford f250, it has a dealer installed switch, it would set it up at 1200 rpm.

This would be really cool if you could enable it on the hemi. I'd love to be able to idle up with my cruise buttons on startups.

Let me know if you get any breakthroughs with this, i'm going to try and look into it.

I have a Superchips installed, but all I see is a "Real-Time Idle Up" that defaults it back to factory idle at restart. Looks like it's only good for Jeeps according to my book. What has me baffled is that there are no aftermarket products on the market to do this, when you would think it would be fairly easy on electronically controlled vehicles. Seems like someone should come up with one with an in-cab switch? I wish I was smarter electronically. Not my strong area unfortunately...........
