Default 2004 Ram 1500 4x4 fast overheat, died and wont start

Was driving down the highway, the temp gauge suddenly shot to the right...then the truck started rattling...then the engine shut down. Pulled over and let it sit..tried to start it, and when it finally did, it was ROUGH...stepping on the gas doesnt throttle it up..

Sounds like it lost a cylinder..not sure...ideas?

pull your dipstick and see if it is covered in something that looks like crap... as in, the type of crap that comes out of an **** after a hard night of drinking..

pop the rad cap and see if there is an oil slick in there...

look for scorching around where the heads meet the block..
