Parking Lights-2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Hey there!

I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi Q/C Laramie 4x4 and am having a problem with the parking lights not working. The headlights/fog lights and brake lights work just fine but no parking lights.

I installed a new fuse for the parking lights today but that didn't fix the problem.I then installed a new relay for the parking lights but once again nothing.

It's not the bulbs itself because both front/rear L/H R/H signal lights do work and so do the hazard lights.

I'm a pretty mechanical guy but I must admit that when it comes to electrical issues I'm not all that great at troubleshooting so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much!

I have the same problem with my 02, I jerry rigged a relay off the fog trigger for now so I can drive. I replaced the fcm and repaired a bad trace in the power module ( poor open design)

There can be corroded connections on the connectors on the bottom of the power module.
Check those before spending serious cash. Get the manual from weedahoe's sig and look for connector C2 and C3.

Guaranteed to be the Power Distribution Center.....PDC.

Do a search on this and there is a host of stuff on this common problem.

I had same problem here. All park lights went away. Some point was badly corroded in PDC.

How exactly do you 'jerry rig' it so that the park lights will work until I can have the problem properly repaired?

If you have the factory fog lights you should be able to do this.

Remove the fog light relay.
Remove the Parking Lamp relay.
You can use the parking lamp relay if you have female spade connectors to affix the wires on, use male spades to insert the wires into the relay cavities, ensure you connect well with the prongs inside.

The FCM triggers the fog relay with a sink to ground, so that is the trigger for your "new relay".

The "new relay" can be powered from the common of the light circuit.
thus there is a jumper between the common and the +Power on my diagram.

I hope the attached diagram helps, I will sketch it using an automotive relay, although I did not use one.

Turn lamp switch ON and pull out fogs to enable parking lamps.

Note: Highbeams will turn your lights off!!!

If you dont want to go through all this just jumper between 30 and 87 of the parking lamp relay when you want the lights on.

Good call abarmby!

Indeed it was the PDC(fuse box)but ouch was it ever expensive! Up here in Canada I was able to get it at cost from a Dodge dealership because of a friend so it was $478 but had I paid regular price it would have cost $668!!

So anyways thanks very much to everyone who through their '2 cents' in! :)

No probs....glad you got it sorted.
The new PDC should have a plastic shroud which covers the bottom of the PDC.
Make sure you fit this to stop any rain/water being kicked up and deflected into into the bottom of the PDC.
This helps keep your PDC dry and reduces corrosion.
