instlling hid's for a friend
 

hey everyone. im a member of the dakota forum. a friend asked me to install his hid's in his 2005 ram. i have a question. i know from doing mine, i will need a relay for it to stop flickering. a question i have is, do these trucks turn off a headlight when the turn signal is activated? and will this affect the hid's being turned on?

LOL....now think about that carefully....when was the last time you ever seen any vehicle turn off the headlights when you turn on the turn signal?

Use your relayed harness and resistors and you will be fine

ive just seem some dodges turn out the running lights when the turn signals go on during the day? ive never touched or look at a ram so i wasnt sure. just wanted to make sure there wouldnt be any issues when doing this.

Yeah and I just realized you were in CN. Makes sense on the running lights but it wont turn out the head lights. How would that look at night if you are driving??? LOL

I think that's what he meant to begin with. Up here in Canada, DRL's are mandatory on all vehicles. Only when the DRL's are on, when the turn signal is activated, the headlight will turn off.

Well the HIDs turning off when the DRLs were activated would decrease the life by quite a bit. Of the ballast that is. I don't know what you would do to get around it since it's a programming issue

Yeah, like I said, I originally didnt see he was in CN. But its all good. Sorry for the confusion if any. Those who have tried to get the dealer to de-program the DRLs never accomplished it. I guess you could get an PCM from the US out of a truck here and use it but then you would also be using miles and not kilometers

You could just disable your DRL's using a programmer.. I've done it with my BD.. I'm sure others can too.
