Default Transfer Case Problems

07 dodge ram 1500 4x4 Hemi.
I believe my transfer case is out but my 4wd will still engage, when trying to move the truck it grinds very loudly in reverse. The rear case of my transfer case is cracked but, could this be something else less expensive or time consuming like replacing the whole transfer case?

Which side of the transfer case is cracked, and is it leaking? How's the fluid level? If it leaked out all the fluid, that would explain the grinding. In any case, a crack in the t-case can't be a good thing.

Hi Tristan Kellermeyer,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.
