Can't get my spare to drop

Trying to drop the spare on my 06 1500 4x4 and not having any luck. I pulled out the jack and bars, put it together and I can't seem to find anything that matches/engages what's at the bottom end of the spare tire winch tube.

My wheels don't require a key to remove, would the spare be different? Where would I find the darn thing if there is one?

on the rear bumper, there's a hole you slide the rod through to a winch kind of deal on the top side of the spare. You turn it counterclockwise to lower the tire.

Yeah, got that, but the rod is not engaging at the bottom of the tube that you get to through the bumper. I can shine a light down there, and nothing I have seems to match. It's why I'm thinking I'm missing a key or something,

turn the rod over so the female end goes into (onto?) the winch----I know, its ass backwards, but it took an engineering degree. the lug wrench fits on the male end of the rod.

Some call it thinking "out of the box"---I generally think its convoluted Bull****

I purchased a key shaft for my truck whebn i first got it. it requires a special keyed wrench.
Maybe your is the same if your not original owner? You should be able to fit the square end and make it work. You can crawl under and the rod that attaches to the pulley is held on by cotterpin type clip. Very easy to "bypass" the keyed spare tire if that really is the case.
What happens is the original wrench to lower just spins over the top of the purchased key shaft.

Good Luck.
9000th post woohooo.

Tried that, several times (with the various ends/pieces), with no luck. lol

Its a anti theft device that is installed by dealers, if your not the orginal owner chances are you did not know this rod is allium where as all the jack assembly rods are black.
