Default Got Into an Accident. Rear Wheel hub Snapped off.

I just got into an accident over the weekend. Go figure I took insurance off a couple months back because I couldnt afford it at the time. The guy ran a stop sign and smacked right into my right side rear tire and crack off the wheel hub just before the bearing. I have pictures to show what the damage is. Auto stores dont sell rear hub assemblies like the front. Can this hub Be replaced without replacing the whole rear drive shaft?

The axle housing needs to be checked. To make sure it's not bent. The axle will need replaced. Along with bearings and seals. Backing plate. Caliper bracket. I am sure I have missing something.

buying parts and having axle housing checked..

or search for a replacement Used rear differential.

I understand about cash being short... but insurance is not one of the "Do Without". as you found out..
many years ago.. I dropped insurance.. 1 month later. got rear ended. and other party drove off.. so NO money for my car.

does Michigan still have No fault insurance. if so. you pay the complete repair.??

Looks like your axle housing is damaged a little at the bottom. Probably would be hard to replace the seal. Looks like RockAuto has a rear axle for about $100. Hopefully the rest of you parts are not damaged.

How ironic would it be if the total repair cost exceeds any saving you saw from not paying for insurance. hmmmmmmmm

And to think I have to pay extra every month to make sure I have "under-insured" and "uninsured" insurance. End of rant.

I missed the part where the stop sign cretin had no insurance. Fixing that will be a fair bit more than the insurance cost, I suspect. Good luck.
