Default 05 engine swap

So I bought an 05 ram 4.7 slt with a blown engine. I bought another engine with only 65,000 from a wrecked Dakota. I was told it was the same. Anyways after swapping in the engine I tried to start it, and BOOM!!!, the air filter box blew up. I talked to the guy that sold me the engine, he's an old friend, and promises that the engine was running great when it was in the other truck. But now it tries to start but it won't. I know it has fuel and spark.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Try checking the timing, make sure the cams are correct and then look at the firing order of the spark plugs, they may be scrambled, or the fuel injector's wiring may be scrambled. If the air box got the big kaboom, a valve may be open when the spark plug fires.
Hope that gives you somewhere helpful to start.
Don't worry, if you can do a swap, you will figure this out.

I checked for codes but none came up. I changed the cam position sensor, and nothing. But now with the new cps, code p0340 (cam sensor) is appearing on my scanner. I reset the computer and the code comes back after cranking.

Sounds like the 07 engine may have an incorrect (for your 05 computer) tooth tone wheel?

Incorrect tooth tone wheel. As in your tone wheel has the wrong number of teeth on it.

If I get the correct computer for the engine, could I just swap it out? Or is the wiring harness and pin locations different for each engine?
