I agree with mike. Regardless of the plate you put under there, 3 feet of water will still be 3 feet of water. All you'll do reduce splash like stated and then keep water in the engine bay since it won't be able to just fall out which may lead to what you want to prevent. You have to think these vehicles were designed with this stuff in mind and I wouldn't worry about shorting your electrics by driving thru some water

Also I agree with mike and 08 though, im not sure that it would actually provide much protection.

I don't think water running out will be a difficult problem to solve.
Biggest issue might be cooling but I don't think that will be difficult either (naca ducts plus only looking to cover the frontal area) mainly just trying to keep the splashing to a minimum, off the underhood wiring and belt drive. She's mine and I think just a simple glance at the wiring in the engine bay should lead anyone to conclude similar. I live in FL...with so much rain not sure if anyone else notices how quickly the engine bay dirties up (quicker than any car I've owned).
