Exclamation TIPM failure

I have a 2007 3500 cab chassis with a manual trans and cummins. I arrived at the yard to find the truck crashed into another truck. The security cameras showed no one in the yard after 5pm, the gps on the truck logged the accident at 730 pm, but the ignition was not turned on after 5pm , the dealer stated the starter stuck and burnt up the tipm. Has anyone had the tipm short and engage the starter, is it even possible.

Did the truck show any signs of being broken into? Where were the keys? Cameras show nothing after 5 and the incident happened around 730, was this not captured on camera?

Am I assuming correctly someone is saying the TCM shorted out, engaged the starter and somehow moved the truck on its own even though it was in Park?

the keys were in the ignition, the cameras showed the lights come on and the truck move, and the truck was in 1st gear. After talking to the dealer again they said it is a possibility but they have never heard of it happening

Gotcha. So we're talking about a manual transmission truck. I didn't want to assume. Was the parking brake set? If so, was it still set after it moved?

Either way, if the camera(s) clearly show no one walking to or from the truck but that the truck started itself so to speak and moved under its own power, I wouldn't be worrying about chit. I would either be calling a Priest or letting the insurance company/police department looking at the video and tell me what they see

I think I will name this truck Christine, the police are reviewing the video, and the brake was not set in the morning when I got there, one of the crew was driving the truck the day before. I didn't know if any one had heard of this happening before. from the marks on the ground the tires did not spin too much, but it t-boned the other truck that was 15 feet away and moved the front of a chevy 4500 dump truck about 1 foot
