power steering won't work at idle

So like the title says the power steering doesn't work at idle. Leading up to the issue my brother decided to do some donuts in my truck to break in my new tires and wheels. Come to find out he can't get it to break loose. He stops the truck to find that it's not working at all when at idle. So I drive home have no problems with it, only at idle. I recently added srt 10 wheels and I drained and refilled the fluid a couple of time to see if it helped. Got 5.7 hemi 2wd 2005 ram 1500 Motor is stock. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Check fluid levels. Also Check to make sure belts routed right. Can't hurt to double check.

Everything check out good. Just flushed drained and re filled it to see if it would help. It didn't.

What is your idle at ? Is your throttlebody dirty? Your issue may be with your *idle being to low* I have never come across this issue fyi-just a suggestion-

Sounds like the p/s pump is going bad. Do you have p/s going down the road?

Yes sound like pump going down or A power steering hose Seperated Inside its self and restricting flow at Idle

I checked my idle when it was warm. It was above the 500 rpm mark. It seem to idle fine. The power steering works like it normally does what I'm driving. Only at idle I have the issue. So it looks like the only option I have is to replace it?

Thank you, like the other guys said here, check the p/s pump too.

I have the same issue with mine, 2003 Ram 1500 SLT 5.7 hemi. I bought this truck this winter and during the winter the p/s seemed worse. As the weather has warmed up it seems to be a little better but it's still a bugger at idel.

I actually replaced my ps pump last weekend and it fixed my problem. It works great now. Just be careful if you have to reuse the pulley because it plastic and they break easily.
