Brakes:Semi metallic vs. Ceramic
 

So I am going to need to do a rear brake job soon anddeciding which pads to go with. Place I’m gonna order rotors & pads fromsay they recommend semi-metallic since this is what came from the factory. Igot 60K out of original pads and rotors. I changed them to ceramic and now have33K on them and they are shot half of the factory life. Not sure which way togo. What do you guys think and what are your experiences? I don’t tow but doplow in winter so on and off the brakes a lot so want to make sure I make theright choice. Thanks!

I use ceramic just to keep the wheel dust down. It's a persona choice really.

Ceramics all 'round for me. Sure cuts down on the pad dust.

Just remember ceramic pads have to be "bedded" if not done so from the manufacturer. I recently installed ceramic pads and new rotors on my Mazda and have to bed the pads. I had ceramic pads before, but didn't realize there is a break-in procedure and had weird brake fade issues.

yes place I'm buying from has break in procedures listed that they highly recommend.

What brand? Are you going with just pads or are you replacing the rotors as well?
