WTF suspension question

So for the past year or so, I have noticed that my truck ('05 QC 4X2) was riding rough. I figured it was time for some new shocks (about 86k miles) so I crawled under it today to see how bad a job it would be and noticed something. The rubber bump stop on the front that mounts to the frame and bumps the bottom of the lower A-arm had such a small clearance that I could not get my finger between the bump stop and the A-arm. Is this normal? It would seem to me that every time I hit a minor bump, that the bump stop would impact the A-arm and thereby cause a rough ride. What should the clearance be between the bump stop and the A-arm?

Is yours 4x4 or no

No, as I said in my original post, its a 4X2.

You buy it new? If not wonder if prior owner lowered? Broken spring? There should be some rake between front and rear. Is it excessive?

I've owned the truck since new. No major hauling or abuse of the truck... mostly commuting miles to and from work. Rake looks OK to me... I've never done any suspension work on the truck (all stock). Maybe it is suppose to be that way. Could worn out shocks cause this issue? Springs? I put new tires on the truck about 2.5 to 3 years ago and they are wearing evenly... so I did not think there was a serious suspension problem.

Shocks deal with ride. It is possible the shocks are gone and the spring is trying to make up for it. shocks are not terribly expensive, I would start there.

4x2 have very little up travel.

'bout how much?

My SRT-10 had maybe .5" before it touched the stops.

150-200 I would check into Monroe reflex. About $45.00 each. You could even do just the fronts for now.
