doesn't recognize cd player

i have a 2006 cummins with a infinity 6 disc player in it.it came time to change the batteries finally ad when i hooked the news ones up i have am/fm but it doesn't recognize the cd part of the stereo.anybody else ever have this problem?

Make sure it's not MP3 .CD players wont play. Just a thought..................
