Cyl 7 misfire code CEL CRAZY

Hey Guys,

Got the cyl 7 misfire code on way into work this morning. And it was annoying af...cuz it kept dinging and flashing the cel every minute or so. I think it might be ok now...keep fingers crossed. I replicated the issue on way to lunch, unplugged fuel injector and plugged it back in, and drove back from lunch without issue...but why the heck was it going Crazy to tell me that...is there something more serious that could happen that it thinks I should pull over?

What engine?

Sorry, 5.7...I usually mention it, just so stressed right now, if my truck goes down, I'm screwed...I work 2 jobs for my family and NEED a truck to do one of them.

Fair few things could cause it, running anywhere from a bad plug, to a bad valve seat. If the problem doesn't come back.... just drive it. Might consider how old your plugs and such are though.

They're pretty old...put it this way, I've had a new set sitting on the bench for nearly 2 yrs too busy to put them in, and it needed them bsck then. 215k and I'm quite sure I only put one set in...so factory plugs got about 100k and these now have about 100k on them. And I get the basic Champion plugs...bad experience in another vehicle with those "fancy" plugs on the market.

I just fear the lifter/cam issue. As it occasionally throws the "improper engine oil" code...but I've put valvoline 5w20 in since new. Tried max life for a while, went back to conventional to see if the different formuls caused the consumption issue.

Change the plugs. The are WAY past due. :)

Cam/Lifter problem would be consistent, not intermittent.

I understand that situation all to well. :) Change the plugs first, see if things don't improve.

Definitely change the plugs , and wires an coils if you can afford to do so, I know thats not cheap, as I just replaced all mine :icon_bricks: also also run some sea foam thru oil an fuel and check pcv and make sure its not gummed up and stuck , , even one bad injector can cause some issue like misfire

IS there an actual PCV VALVE on these? I thought it was just a fixed orifice restriction in the vent line from valve cover, to the intake??
