Truck won't start / p0513
 

Greetings from Finland!

I'm about to buy 2006 Ram 2500 with Cummins.

Truck used to start and run fine but now it won't start. We get p0513 code. It started about 3 times before shutting itself down. Now it cranks but won't start. Red immobilizer light doesn't blink or stay on.

Car has 2 keys and other one hasn't been used like in 7 years. I don't know which key I used to start it before these problem. All buttons work in both keys.

Dealers tester says that both keys are programmed and tester fails to program them again. Now we are waiting for new key to arrive.

Could it be that the other key was "dead" and did this? Has this happened to anyone before? Ram trucks aren't that common in Finland so that's why local Dodge mechanics aren't sure what to do so I promised to help them as much as I can. :D

Incorrect Immobilizer Key
Either a bad key, or, whatever is trying to read it is having issues.

Yea, that much we know also. Is it possible that the unused key did this and now we can't start the car? If the immobilizer key is incorrect shouldn't the red light flash or stay on?

Not sure. There is a 'reset' procedure detailed around here somewhere....... for the security system.

Disconnect the battery to reset the receiver. Mine does that a few times a year.
